Understanding products

Understanding products

Products form up the basis of your store, and once you have imported your products be prepared to spend time ensuring each product in your store looks the part too.

Product name & price

You can quickly name & price a product by using the mini-spreadsheet available at the base of the product's management screen. Product variants (or options) can be added from the mini-spreadsheet too.

Product images

You can upload as many images to a product as required. The primary (or first) image associated with a specific product is used as the thumbnail (or identifier) for the product. Additional images uploaded to a product are used to generate slideshow or gallery views for a product.

Product images can be grouped into image groupings should not all product images be displayed at a given time, or should product images be used in another fashion.

Product one-liner & description

The product one-liner is usually served up in list or grid views in your store: think of it as a short description of a specific product that could potentially entice potential shoppers to find out more. The product one-liner is sometimes referred to as the product listing.

The product description is displayed alongside product images in the product permalink view. This is where you add all relevant information relating to a specific product. The product description is sometimes referred to as the product detail.

Everything else

You can also manage the behind-the-scenes product data: override the Custom Slug to shorten URLs, change the Page Title to replace the title tag and fill in Meta Description to fine-tune what appears in search engine result pages.
